Meet Ashlyn
My Story

Ashlyn Smith is a board-certified Physician Associate with specialized expertise in endocrinology, diabetes, and cardio-renal-metabolic conditions, Distinguished Fellow of the American Academy of Physician Associates, and a certified Diabetes Prevention Program Lifestyle Coach. She is passionate about whole-person, evidence-based care and integrates the principles of lifestyle medicine into every aspect of her practice.
With over 14 years of clinical experience, Ashlyn combines deep specialty knowledge with a warm, collaborative approach that empowers patients to take charge of their health. Her care philosophy blends the latest in endocrine science with proven lifestyle interventions to support long-term wellness.
Ashlyn is Past President of the American Society of Endocrine Physician Assistants, Past Advisor to the American Diabetes Association’s Primary Care Advisory Group, and three-time America’s Top PA award winner. Passionate about education, she lectures and publishes medical education content to share her experiences and expertise with clinicians, patients, and students. Ashlyn served as Adjunct Assistant Professor at Midwestern University and routinely lectures on pituitary disorders at Creighton University’s PA Program.
Outside of work, Ashlyn is fueled by family life with her husband, three kids, and a lively crew of 11 animals—including four dogs, a cat, four goats, and two axolotls. She finds joy and restoration in camping, music, and dance—especially aerial and ballet, which she embraces as part of her own self-care. A strong advocate for mental health, she believes in supporting the emotional side of healing just as much as the physical. She’s also a bit of a true crime enthusiast, always up for a good mystery podcast at the end of the day or during commutes.
As the founder of ELM Endocrinology and Lifestyle Medicine, Ashlyn brings together her clinical expertise, entrepreneurial spirit, and whole-health philosophy to offer accessible, compassionate specialty care—built on connection, empowerment, and innovation.
